Good morning everyone, welcome to our school.  I¡¦m          .

                                        I¡¦m          .

Today I¡¦m going to introduce this round building for

you--¡§ Window of the World ¡¨.  ¡§Window of the World¡¨

Please look at this special building.  Why is it round and why are its windows so small, so cute?  Let me tell you.

This design is based on the Hakka Toulo. (®i¥ÜºÖ«Ø¤g¼Ó¬ÝªO)

In fact, this round building is an imitation of the ¡§Fujian Tulou¡¨ in Fujian province in southeastern mainland China where there are many many Hakkanese.

Tulous were special Hakka architectures, which were made of earth, raw soil, bamboo chip and so on.  They were mostly built between the twelfth(12th) to twentieth(20th) Centruies.(during 8 hunderd years )

Most of them now are very old.  Moreover, as everyone knows, the Fujian Tulous are the World Heritage certificated by U.N. educational, scientific and cultural organization.

In ancient times, Hakka people lived in the earth building and they cultivated the land around the building.

Each Tulou had a capacity of 8 hundred people.

The small windows made it easy to resist enemy attacks.

Actually, here, this district around our school was original a Hakka villiage.  Most residents here around our school are Hakkanese.

Therefore we built this round building to create Hakka  atmosphere and conserve the Hakka culture.    Is anyone of you also Hakkanese?

( I am a Hakkangin.)

Do you like this round building?  I believe you do.  Do you know how old it is?  Take a guess.  It is very young, younger than you and me.

(Four, five, six, seven, eight¡K)  Yes, it is eight years old.  It was built about eight years ago.  And about 4 years ago, our school Baseball Team beated other teams in Taiwan and got the respresentive of Taiwan to participate in the William Porter Junior Baseball Game in America.  That¡¦s a great honor.  To remember this record, we make the mosaic pitcher mark like this here. Cool, right?

Besides this appearance, inside the real earth building, kitchens are on the first floor , storehouses are on the second floor and living areas are on the third floor.

How about our own building?  There are maps and flags of countries in the world inside the building¡¦s walls to make it easy for children to learn more about the world.  That¡¦s why we name this round building ¡§window of the world.¡¨   Asia Pavilion is on the first floor (¨È¥xÀ]),  Euro-America Pavilion is on the second one(¼Ú¬üÀ]), and Africa Pavilion on the third one.(«D¬wÀ])

The top floor, which might surprise you, is Astrology Pavilion (¬P¶HÀ]).  It¡¦s a place to observe the stars in the sky during the day time. There are Astrology maps on the ceiling and walls.

Thank so much for today. Let¡¦s end our introduction.

Now we have two questions for you.  Any volunteers?
