The Smart Rainwater Tank

Hi, I’m             . Hi, I’m                 .

Please clap your hands

Welcome to Chung-Ping.  We are happy to tell you the meaning.

While we’re talking, you’ll be watching.

So, are you ready for that?

A&B:  We are going to introduce the Smart Rainwater Tank System.

A: Although there is a lot of rain in Taiwan every year, it rains from May to August mainly. The annual rainfall is 2500 millimeters(mm). In addition, because the mountains are steep and the length of the rivers are short, rain flows to ocean easily.

B: How can we preserve the valuable water resources?

A:In order to use water resources well, our school found the Smart Rainwater Tank. They cannot only save water but also have multi functions.

Does everybody know piggy banks? ( Show them the piggy bank) Usually, we use piggy banks to save money, but we use piggy banks to save water here.

B: Wow!  So you use these water towers as rain-collecting piggy banks.

A: Yes!  We also set 7 other rain-collecting piggy banks as big as this one(手比儲水桶) in He-Fong Garden and on Bu-Ma Farm.

B: How do you collect rain on the ground?

A: Please look at the Chung-Ping Building and Shan-Yang Building.  Their roofs are water-proof, heat-preventing, and wavy structures.  When it rains, the cullis beside the roofs collects water and flows to the gutter. Then, rain flows to the rain-collecting piggy banks.

B: What’s the silver small piggy bank beside the big one?

A:  This silver small piggy bank is a First-flush Disposal Tank, and it can make big piggy banks not cause silt.

A: In addition, we use water pipes to connect these 7 rain-collecting piggy banks.  By doing so, all the piggy banks can save water averagely.

B: Oh, I see.  This is the so-called Communicating vessels, isn’t it?

A:  You are right! Each piggy bank can contain rain of about 2 cubic meters. We have 7 piggy banks, so we can save up to 14 cubic meters, and save money by the way.

B: After saving so much rain, how do you reuse it?

A: The Bu-Ma Farm on the campus uses rain from the piggy banks to water.  To save water, the He-Fong Garden also uses rain from the piggy banks to water flowers.

A:  In addition, the Green Waste Composting Area, Aquaponics System and toilets of the first floor rely on the piggy banks.

B: That’s a really great design.  Thank you for telling us the functions of

the piggy banks.

A:  You are welcome. Let’s make efforts to save water.

A&B: Thank you for listening.
